Thanksgiving Fun for the Whole Family!

by | Nov 17, 2016

President Obama has set a new world indoor record… for the promulgation of bureaucracy.  His administration has added well over 600,000 pages of regulation to the Federal Register in his tenure.  And he still has two months to go!

The Competitive Enterprise Institute reports that so far in 2016 the administration has added 81,640 pages of mind-numbing federal verbiage.

Here’s a fun game for the whole family to enjoy after Thanksgiving dinner.  Each player chooses a page number at random – any page, sight unseen – in this year’s Federal Register.  Go on-line to look up each page.  Then the entire family has to decide which federal regulation is the stupidest and the funniest!  Almost every page has something hilarious on it or an entry so laden with bureaucratic jargon that you’ll laugh out loud!  It isn’t always easy to choose and the everyone will have a rollicking good time deciding which one of is the winner!

One year I won when my random page involved federal bureaucrats deciding how many grapes could go in a plastic clamshell for export!

Word of warning:  Don’t think of the aggregate cost of all this bureaucracy.  It takes the fun out of the game.
