US News

  • Two associates of Rudi Guilini have been indicted for funneling money into pro-Trump campaign organizations. The indictment alleges the foreign-born businessmen took money from Russian business. [Link]
  • The Trump administration has changed Henry Kyle Frese under the Espionage Act. Frese is the eighth person charged with espionage under Trump. [Link]

Ecuador

  • A Spanish company is accused of working with the US to spy on Julian Assange while he was in the Ecuadorian embassy. [Link]
  • Ecuador may lose 165,000 barrels of oil produced per day as protesters shut down oil sites. [Link]

Ukraine

  • Russia says Ukraine must pull troops from the eastern front before talks begin. [Link]

Turkey Invades Syria

  • A new bipartisan Senate bill targets Turkey with sanctions. [Link]
  • Twenty-nine House Republicans introduce a bill to sanction Turkey over invading Syria. [Link]
  • A State Department official said the US would penalize Turkey if it took inappropriate action in Syria. [Link] 
  • Trump says he will mediate between Turkey and the Syrian Kurds. [Link]
  • The Syrian Kurds say they have halted all anti-ISIS operations as Turkey is invading Kurdish held Syria. [Link]
  • A hospital closed in northeast Syria because of the Turkish bombing. So far, at least 65,000 people have fled because of the Turkish invasion. [Link]
  • Turkey claims the fighting has killed 277 armed Syrian Kurds, and one Turkish soldier was killed. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports 29 Kurdish militants have been killed and 17 Turkish soldiers and the Arab Syrian rebels aligned with them. Nine civilians have been killed. Six civilians were killed by Kurdish mortar fire into Turkey. [Link] 

Middle East

  • Iran confirms a state-owned oil tanker was attacked in the Red Sea. [Link]
  • The Houthi offers the Yemeni government a prisoner swap involving 2,000 detainees. [Link]

Africa

  • New fighting has broken out south of Tripoli as Haftar continues to try to take the capital city. [Link]
  • An al-Qaeda group in Mali killed at least 35 soldiers in attacks on two military bases. [Link]
