Great Power

  • Russia and China conduct joint patrols in the Western Pacific for the first time. [Link]

Europe

  • Germany – with four other EU nations – will form a rapid response force to be deployed in the EU. [Link]
  • Turkey’s leader Erdogan orders ten Western diplomats – including the US, Canada, and France – to be expelled from Turkey. The ten countries recently released a letter calling for Turkey to release Osman Kavala. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • The US said it is working out a deal with Pakistan to use its airspace for strikes in Afghanistan. Pakistan denied it would allow the US to use its airspace. [Link]

  • Israel is planning 1,300 new settlement homes across seven West Bank settlements. [Link]
  • Saudi claims to have carried out several airstrikes in Yemen, killing more than 250 Houthi fighters. [Link]

  • The UN claims an aid flight approaching Tigray, Ethiopia had to turn back because of the government bombing the region. [Link]
