US News

  • The Supreme Court rules against a minor who received a life sentence without parole. [Link]
  • Montana passed a resolution calling to end the forever wars. [Link]
  • Biden is considering creating an anti-graft task force for Central America that will sanction officials Biden believes to be corrupt. [Link]
  • The US will allow self-proclaimed Venezuelan President Juan Guaido to withdraw $150 million from a Venezuelan government account seized by the US. It is reported that $100 million will go to buying vaccines for Venezuela and at least $2 million will go to Guaido’s travel and security. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • CENTCOM head Gen. McKenzie says he is concerned the Afghan Army will collapse if the US withdraws. [Link]

Israel

  • Israeli forces executed a Palestinian man at a checkpoint and lied and said he attempted to ram the checkpoint with his car. [Link]
  • A Palestinian protests over Israeli restrictions at a holy site during Ramadan. Israeli citizens counter protested by chanting “Arabs get out” and “death to Arabs.” Clashes broke out and police arrested 44. [Link]
  • Israel is increasing its bombing of Syria. [Link]

Middle East

  • Gen. McKenzie says Iran has not made any irreversible nuclear moves. [Link]
  • Iran reduced the number of centrifuges enriching uranium to 60%. [Link]
  • The US is willing to lift sanctions on Iran’s central bank and energy sector but wants to keep sanctions on the IRGC. [Link]
  • Three rockets landed near the Baghdad Airport. [Link]

Africa

  • More than 100 people are feared to have drowned attempting to cross from Africa to Europe. [Link]
