US News

  • The TSA ignored federal guidelines that required turning over N-95 masks to hospitals. The TSA has hoarded 1.3 million N-95s. [Link]
  • Trump vetoed a war powers bill that would have constrained his ability to start a war with Iran. [Link]
  • The US is looking to buy substantially more guided missiles to counter China. [Link]
  • The Pentagon admitted to killing over 130 civilians across the globe in 2019. The Pentagon continues to undercount these numbers. [Link]

Venezuela

  • Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the US will use every tool to secure the release of any Americans held in Venezuela. A group of mercenaries recently attempted to overthrow Maduro. [Link]
  • At least one American was captured by Venezuela in the coup attempt. [Link]
  • Venezuela is requesting the US extradite the owner of the mercenary company that attempted the coup. [Link]

India

  • Indian soldiers killed four militants in occupied Kashmir. One of the dead was the captain of a large insurgent group. The killing sparked protests across Kashmir. Clashes between protesters and police have left at least 30 injured. [Link]

Israel

  • Israel announced a plan for 1,000 new settler homes to be built in the West Bank. [Link]

Syria

  • New documents show the head of the OPCW attempted to smear the reputation and role of the Douma whistleblower. [Link]

Iraq

  • Iraq’s parliament approves the cabinet of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. Iraq had gone six months with only a caretaker Prime Minister. [Link]
  • A US soldier died in Iraq on Monday. The military says his death was unrelated to combat or coronavirus. [Link]
  • The US gives Iraq a 120-day sanctions waiver to continue to import Iranian energy. [Link]
