US News

  • 33.5 million Americans have filed for unemployment since the coronavirus lockdowns started. [Link]
  • The Senate failed to override Trump’s veto of the Iran War Powers resolution. [Link]
  • The Justice Department is dropping the case against Mike Flynn. [Link]
  • Rep. Adam Schiff releases Russiagate hearing testimony from 2017. The testimony shows several Obama officials admitting there was zero evidence that Trump worked with Russia. [Link]
  • Trump spoke with Putin about his desire for arms control. So far, the US and Russia have been unable to extend the New Start Treaty because of the US demand for Chinese involvement. [Link] Russia said Trump did not discuss extending New Start. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • The Taliban killed an Afghan police chief and two other people with a roadside bomb. [Link]

Middle East

  • Turkey is continuing to produce parts for the F-35. Last year the US announced it was removing Turkey from the F-35 production line because of Turkey’s decision to buy the S-400 air defense system from Russia. [Link]
  • A dispute over oil price has led the US to start withdrawing military assets from Saudi Arabia. The US removed some warplanes and air defense systems. [Link]
  • New reports say the US is looking to withdraw some peacekeepers from Egypt’s Sinai. Israel opposes the withdrawal and plans to speak with the US about it. [Link]
