US News

  • The Biden administration will eliminate $5.8 billion in student loan debt for over 320,000 disabled people. [Link] 

Cuba

  • The US sanctioned three Cuba officials using the Global Magnitsky Act. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • The State Department said it was deploying more staff to Kabul, Qatar, and Kuwait to process Afghan refugees. He said 6,000 people were processed and waiting at the Kabul Airport. He reported the US evacuated about 7,000 people. [Link]
  • The US now has 5,200 troops at the Kabul Airport. [Link]
  • Reuters reports the Taliban seized over 2,000 vehicles and 40 aircraft from the Afghan Army. Biden has not ruled out bombing the larger equipment. [Link]
  • A NATO official says 18,000 Afghans have been evacuated since Sunday. [Link]
  • The Taliban seized billions of dollars in US military equipment. [Link]
  • Trucks carrying goods are now flowing over the border from Pakistan to Afghanistan. [Link]
  • National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan says the US is focused on potential terror attacks from Afghanistan coming from ISIS-K. [Link]

Middle East

  • CIA Director Bill Burns told Israel the US is concerned with Chinese investment in Israel. [Link]
  • Hezbollah’s leader announced an Iranian tanker was bringing fuel to Lebanon. [Link]
  • Syria says Israel bombed near Damascus. Lebanon condemned the Israeli attack for violating its airspace. [Link]
  • Biden falsely claims there are no US troops in Syria. [Link]

Africa

  • Fifteen soldiers in Mali were killed when their convoy was ambushed by unknown attackers. [Link]
  • A recent attack in Burkina Faso by militants left 160 dead. About 60 civilians were killed along with Burkina Faso security forces. Eighty of the militants were killed. [Link]
