A US official said that the White House is preparing for a massive, weeks-long attack on Iran.

According to a US official speaking with Axios, President Donald Trump is prepared to start a war with Iran that will be much broader in scope than the 12-day conflict that Israel and the US waged against the Islamic Republic in June.

The US now has a larger military footprint in the Middle East than it had last summer. Trump has ordered two aircraft carrier strike groups, a dozen additional warships, scores of fighter jets, and advanced air defense systems.

While the US is currently engaged in talks with Iran, the President is demanding Tehran agree to a deal that violates several of the Islamic Republic’s redlines, including restrictions on its missile program.

Tehran says it is only willing to sign on to a deal that places limitations on its civilian nuclear program in exchange for the US removing sanctions on Iran.

Vice President JD Vance explained that at any time, Trump could determine that talks will not result in a new agreement with Iran and order an attack. One US official told Axios, “The boss is getting fed up. Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is a 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks.”
