President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will come to a “mutual” agreement about the outcome of the war with Iran.
The US and Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iran last week that ignited a regional war. The White House has offered a myriad of excuses for starting the war and offered several potential outcomes of the conflict.
While the White House has attempted to sell the war to the people as America First, Trump says he will give Tel Aviv significant influence over how the conflict ends. When asked about ending the war by the Times of Israel, the President responded, think it’s mutual… a little bit. We’ve been talking. I’ll make a decision at the right time, but everything’s going to be taken into account,” he said.
Trump also touted the success of joint operations between the Israeli and American militaries. “Iran was going to destroy Israel and everything else around it… We’ve worked together. We’ve destroyed a country that wanted to destroy Israel,” he told the Israeli outlet.
However, Axios reports that the White House is upset with some of the Israeli strikes inside Iran. Discussing the Israeli attack on Iranian oil storage facilities, a Trump advisor told the outlet, “The president doesn’t like the attack. He wants to save the oil. He doesn’t want to burn it. And it reminds people of higher gas prices.”
