  • Democratic Senator Robert Menendez loses an appeal to the Supreme Court, and he will face bribery charges. Menendez is accused of accepting bribes from an ophthalmologist, then protecting the ophthalmologist from a $8.9 million Medicare dispute. [Link]
  • Electronic devices other than phones and medical devices will be prohibited from being carried onto flights to the US from ten Middle East airports. [Link]
  • 1.4 million children are at risk of starving to death in four countries. Nigeria, South Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen are all facing famine. [Link]
  • NATO will be sending an additional 1,200 troops to Poland. 900 of those troops are expected to be US troops. [Link]
  • A car bomb in a Shi’ite neighborhood in Baghdad kills 23 people. A group is yet to claim responsibility for the attack, but it was most likely ISIS. [Link]
  • ISIS in Western Mosul is forcing young men to pick up arms and fight for them. [Link]
  • The US carried out 7,000 airstrikes against ISIS in January and February. Many of those airstrikes are on large population centers like Mosul and Raqqa. [Link]
  • Russia reaches a deal with the Syrian Kurdish faction YPG to build a military base in territory held by the YPG. [Link]
  • Part of the attack on Damascus Sunday included rebel group tunneling into the city. [Link] The Syrian government reports they have been able to defeat these rebels. [Link]
