In 1988 authorities began their investigations into the allegations that important people from business and government were involved in child sex trafficking. It turned into a scandal. The investigations ended in 1990 when it was concluded that the allegations were unfounded. The ‘Franklin Scandal’ was mostly isolated to Nebraska. Despite victims coming forward, and witnesses confirming that businessman Lawrence E King held parties that featured the abuse of minors, it was a political hot potato. Many claimed it was a cover up.
Prominent conservative politicians attended the sex parties, reportedly participating in the sex with children. King, was a prominent power broker in the Republican Party. His business the Franklin Credit Union was raided by authorities due to the embezzlement of millions of dollars. In the 1980s, that was a lot of money. The scandal also involved the State foster care.
In true American fashion conspiracies muddied the water and expanded into claims of Satanic worship, it was the 1980s, cannibalism and ritualistic orgies. The fact that powerful adults were raping and exploiting children sexually was not enough. Rape and it is also claimed, murder and kidnap. Can’t be performed by respectable political and business men. They need to be alienated into ‘others’, in this case Satanists. The scandal is mostly forgotten, perhaps because it involved Republicans. In the post-Pizzagate era, the assumed meme is that only lefties diddle children.
It turns out that rape, murder and child exploitation is a bi-partisan thing. John Wayne Gacy was involved in the Democratic Party and Ted Bundy, a Republican. It takes political bias to debate which was worse. It is for moral principles to understand that politics has no place for justice.
No one quite exemplified conservative political values like Margaret Thatcher. Her good friend Jimmy Savile was a well known abuser of girls and young women. For decades he used his influence and relationship with Royalty, politicians and media elites to hide in plain sight. A volunteer hospital worker, where he molested and raped coma patients and took advantage of those ill. As well as being a regular visitor to a female youth prison where he was lent young girls by those running it. Common in that era, for the authorities to lease out children held in detention centres and orphanages to those who can afford their company.
Despite much evidence, witnesses and victims, Savile remained free and protected. It was only after his knighthood, then death that the public was allowed to know about his crimes. The British government, authorities and media either protected him, looked the other way but ultimately feigned ignorance once the scandalous nature of his crimes became known. Then again, the Crown and British government are not virgins when it comes to such alleged predations from Lord Mountbatten to Prince Andrew.
The public loves scandals. Tabloid fodder that used to sell magazines and newspapers but no is social media engagement bait. Scandals make for popular Netflix shows and with masturbatory delight voyeurs consume specials and podcasts about serial killers and rapists. It’s entertainment. Content. The victims are props. Background characters to a series that people keep consuming. Savile had many props that he abused and violated.
Where I am from, Adelaide, there exists lore about a child murderer who is responsible for disgusting crimes. Missing children are still attributed to him. Evidence suggests along with sleuths and conspiracy theorists claim that he is linked to local aristocracy, politicians and the judiciary. It’s local lore. The assumed truth is that he keeps his mouth shut and in turn receives perks and favourable treatment while in jail. Those who work in government, especially cops, have a tendency of spreading these theories. Though, they continue to serve. To show up to the job and enforce any law, written by these very people involved in such a conspiracy and cover up or may be involved.
Scandals, no matter how certain and vulgar are just entertainment for the non-victims. That’s it. If they weren’t then things would change right?
It turns out, despite making much of it, Trump and key officials in his regime are dismissing the Jeffrey Epstein crimes. The circumstances leading to his death, the ‘client list’ and whatever data that existed on hard drives or in clouds are all just one big Rickroll. It was content to go on podcasts about, to feed memes, to win elections. A president with a clear relationship and numerous links to Jeffrey Epstein was somehow going to be elected as the champion for truth and justice. Turns out, he was a politician and lied or simply put did what he needed to do in order to win an election. Grown adults, those with numerous elections and decades of experience of observing government and the nature of politics, fell for it. Again. The memes and content clearly were that engrossing.
Let’s pretend that President Trump did release all of the data. Faces could be seen as they soiled the youth, vulgar pornographic moments of shame and one sided gratification for us to witness. Just as we can watch parents pull torn toddlers bodies from the rubble after a government bomb destroyed their lives. What would happen? I suspect the same thing that happens when we watch those blown to pieces babies. Nothing. What is worse than babies being starved and murdered? Fucking them?
If exposed, those involved may have a ruined reputation. Some, may go to jail. Others may find a Roman Polanski refuge and continue to be admired, respected and revered by their colleagues. It would not change anything. The government would remain. It will remain as it is right now, despite each election. Despite now covering up the Epstein files, or even if they were released. Just as the British government remained despite Savile. Despite the lies that lead to an invasion of Iraq and the war on terror. Despite the information leaked by Wikileaks, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden. Regardless of Vault seven. Despite the Afghanistan papers, the Pentagon papers, the Church committee or the Panama papers. That’s a lot of papers. Nothing.
Nothing changes. The brave memers on social media will post about ‘woodchippers for pedos’, I have seen cops share these memes. Yet, they turn up and make sure that the rapists are protected from their victims and the wider community. That is what jail is. Not a punishment. Protection. It protects the most deplorable from their victims. From those of us, who would not tolerate them once their true nature is known. Epstein, Savile, and those involved in the Franklin scandal, they were able to function because of power, authority. Government. Not despite it.
Then there is the meme circulating among the MAGA devotees, “Would you want the Epstein files released, even if it means that Republicans went to jail.” Unashamedly, men post these things. Just as the many incarnations of Christian worship have their own histories of hiding child abuse, and protecting rapists. The faith, is more important than the victims. Just as the NKVD tortured and raped, once the winds changed, those doing the rape and tortuer turned on Lavrentiy Beria, their boss. He became the effigy. The State that made such deplorable violence possible, remained.
No matter what you know and witness. You can scroll through your feed and see plenty of injustice but it’s convenient to appeal to authority. To cuckold morality to professionals who are mostly indifferent to justice. We understand that monopolies are bad, yet most clamour to serve and support the existence of one that controls and regulates most things. If not everything.

A brothel operator told me about a judge who would pay his girls to scream and spit at him while he drove them around town for an hour. I won’t even mention what happened to a gumboot. I can go on. The ‘degenerates’ and predators have a tendency to be drawn to wealth and power.
They are nothing without you, us. They are just flab in a suit, a flaccid penis in need of a blue pill or thousands of willing employees to fluff them into life. To spit their effluent from our mouths and minds takes responsibility, accountability. It’s easier to burn effigies. To blame celebrities and politicians for every ill in the world, With each election, every scandal those in government mostly keep their jobs and do whatever they need or don’t need to do, to retain those jobs. More have their hands out for welfare, expecting debt and taxation to support them. It’s an entitlement now. A dependency so taken for granted that it’s pariah to even mention it in the negative.
The worse sort of person, those who would rape kids. Those who would blow them to pieces. They continue to rule, to have jobs. To have power. Justice is not found with indifference or outsourcing indignation to a corporate conformity. The shrill call for “more funding” means, more money to those who are failing or have done wrong. And when those involved in the crime or in enabling it are charged with investigating it. Don’t be surprised. But, who am I kidding. The Epstein stuff, it’s all going to be content for podcasts, memers and streaming shows for years to come now. That’s all that matters in the end right? If you can ignore those other revelations over the years, especially those that involved mass murder, millions of civilians, then this scandal will pass on as well.
