US News

  • Meet the Press issued an apology to Attorney General Barr for deceptively editing an interview of him. [Link] 
  • The FDA reports that nearly 200 meat inspectors have tested positive for Covid. [Link]
  • Mexico is requesting the US to turn over all information related to operation ‘Fast and Furious.’ The operations turned into a scandal when the guns the US government allowed to be smuggled to Mexican cartels started to be used in murders. [Link]
  • The US tells Iran to send a plane to the US to pick up 11 Iranians the US wants to deport. [Link]

Venezuela

  • Venezuelan media ran a story on Silvercorp’s coup plot over a month before the operation was attempted. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • The Afghan government announces it captured the leader of ISIS-K, the group’s affiliate in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • Gunmen attacked a hospital in Kabul. At least eight people were killed. [Link]
  • A suicide bomber killed or wounded at least 50 people at a funeral for a police chief in Afghanistan. [Link]

Middle East

  • An Israeli soldier was killed during a raid in the West Bank. The soldier was hit in the head with a rock thrown from a roof as his special forces unit was arresting four Palestinians. [Link]
  • Fighting has restarted in Aden, Yemen. The city is a key port in the south and is the capital of the Saudi-backed government. Southern Separatists are fighting the Saudi backed government for control. City officials also announced the city was infested with coronavirus. [Link]
  • Fighting broke out in Zinjibar, Yemen between the Saudi-backed government and the separatists. At least ten people were killed in the fighting. [Link]
