Year Zero: Growing up in Apartheid South Africa

Year Zero: Growing up in Apartheid South Africa

All of us experience history every day. Some events, 9/11 or Waco for example, are more transitional than others. In Episode 56 Tommy sits down with his wife Beatrix about life in South Africa during and after Apartheid. They discuss segregated schools being integrated, Mandella, the ’94 Rugby World Cup, farm murders, crime, economic strife, and how life in America compares.

Israel’s Siege of Beirut Explained for Dummies

Israel’s Siege of Beirut Explained for Dummies

Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 to stop the PLO, led by Yasser Arafat.  Against the wishes of the United States, Israeli tanks surrounded Beirut and blasted the city with heavy artillery to force the Palestinians to surrender.  However, Arafat was hiding among a heavy urban civilian population and so there is heated debate over Israel’s artillery methods to extract him.

You may think you don’t care about debates of Lebanese civilian casualties, but the towers falling in Lebanon inspired Osama-bin-laden to commit atrocities on 9/11 in New York.  In addition, the massacres from Israel’s occupation of Lebanon led to the rise of Hezbollah.  How does this effect modern Iran, Israel, and American relations?  Tune in to find out!

We’re trying to raise $20,000 for the advance on my next book, Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism.

And this week, a generous donor has offered matching funds for your donations.

So if you liked Fool’s Errand, and you’re for the kind of work we do around here then hey why not chip in a bit and help support?

Tell your friends too. The ones that like the show or the book or libertarianism or something.

Thanks very much!

Support Black Guns Matter

I sense a change in the gun debate.  People are realizing they have a right to protect themselves.  Maj Toure and Black Guns Matter are actively promoting and teaching people how to use guns and protect their right to self defense and he is doing it in communities that have traditionally been the target of gun control laws that deny people that right.  The message is being heard.

Chicago State Rep. La Shawn Ford has supported federal gun laws in the past but now he is urging people to to arm themselves.

“I think about it all the time,” Ford said of the shootings that plague his community. “That’s why I’m working with a concealed carry instructor and we’re going to go through the neighborhood and we’re going to encourage people to get their concealed carry license because it makes no sense for people not to have the protections that they need.”
