Salafis Throwing Bombs: How American and British Planners Partnered With Al-Qaeda Affiliated Groups At the Start of the Syrian Civil War

2011 syria protests.svg

Introduction In the mainstream view, al-Qaeda did not play a role in the Syria conflict until Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi dispatched his deputy, Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, to Syria in August 2011 to establish a wing of the group there, called Jabhat al-Nusra, or the Nusra Front. Additionally, al-Qaeda allegedly did not carry out any military operations until December 2011 and did not announce its establishment until January 2012. However, there is evidence that al-Qaeda affiliated militants were involved in the Syrian conflict much earlier. Saudi intelligence...

COI #129: Biden Bombs Syria and Iraq

COI_Logo

On COI #129, Kyle discusses Biden's latest bombing of Shia militias in Iraq and Syria. Biden claimed Article 2 of the constitution gave him the authority to carrying out the "defensive" strikes. However, the US is illegally occupying Iraq and Syria and Biden failed to show the strikes would make Iraq or Syria safer for US forces. Kyle breaks down the results of the strikes and how it could negatively impact talks to save the Iran Nuclear Deal. Federal Agents Occupy Portland guest Will Porter

Will Porter returns to FPF to discuss Trump's deployment of well-armed federal agents to Portland. The feds are carrying out mass abuses of protesters, including arresting people for an unnamed reason and throwing the detainees into unmarked minivans. Several journalists have been targeted. Police have disabled at least one man by shooting him in the head with a rubber bullet. City and state officials want the feds gone; however, Trump says they are deployed as part of his order to protest statues.

US Marines Arrive on Yemen’s Island of Socotra to Back UAE: US installs Patriot missiles on UAE-occupied island

Screen Shot 2020 03 09 At 11.18.43 Pm

It’s not clear what US intentions are, but a group of US Marines arrived at the Yemeni island of Socotra over the weekend, meeting with the occupying United Arab Emirates forces, and installing Patriot missile systems there. The US hasn’t announced why they are back on Socotra, an island strategically located near the mouth of the Gulf of Aden. The UAE has been seen as wanting to keep the island after the Yemen War for a base, and there is speculation that the US has designs on a base as well. The UAE will reportedly “lease” the island for a period of 95 years. There has been no major...

Trump Stumbling Into Neocon Trap In Iraq

President Trump is swallowing the neocon line on the Iraqi protests at the US embassy in Baghdad, blaming the whole incident on Iran. Suddenly everyone who doesn't want the US military to continue to occupy Iraq - nearly 17 years after an invasion based on lies - is an "Iranian proxy." Will Trump continue to take the neocon bait and stumble his way into a war on Iran? Starting a war based on neocon lies is likely the only thing that would prevent his re-election. ‘Come Be My Slave’

Yossi Gurvitz: Israeli rabbi at military academy says Palestinians should be enslaved for their own good: Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel, the head of Bnei David, a military religious college in the settlement of Eli in the occupied West Bank, was lecturing about “slavery and the position of workers according to Judaism”, and offered a justification of Jewish supremacy and the enslavement of Palestinians under occupation: “Yes, we are racists, of course we are. There are races in the world and nations that have genetic attributes, and that demands that we [the Jewish people] will think of how to...

TV Hairdos Know Nothing About the Wars They Monger

Look at this NBC kook, Kasie Hunt, treating Tulsi Gabbard like Jane Fonda on an anti-aircraft gun for meeting with Bashar al Assad, based on her complete misunderstanding that the U.S. army and marines are fighting against his government there. J'accuse! (Wait, can you look that up for me?) Gabbard patiently explains that U.S. forces are there fighting ISIS, not Assad, and that they tell her they agree with her opposition to another regime change war there. The journalist interrogating Tulsi seems to believe that US forces in Syria are fighting Assad. Tulsi corrects her, says those troops...

Progressive Democracy Is Great for the 1%

The Occupy Wall Street movement that began in 2011 protested government policies that favored the 1%, the elite, over the 99%, the masses. Their protests were justified. The Wall Street fat cats who owned mortgage-backed securities were bailed out, but homeowners who had lost their jobs and couldn’t pay their mortgages were foreclosed. But that’s the way Progressive Democracy works. We can look at those two ideas of Progressivism and Democracy to see why. Democracy can be thought of in several ways. One is that it is a method of peacefully choosing and replacing those who hold government...

A Thank You from William Wallace Grigg

William Wallace Grigg, the eldest son of our late colleague Will, wrote a thank you to all of those who donated to help the Grigg family in their time of need. The support that we have received over these past few months has been more than I would have ever thought possible. A few weeks before my father passed...

White House Considering Reducing or Increasing Tariffs on China

President Joe Biden is examining a range of options for what to do with the current tariffs on China, according to Reuters. For months, the administration has considered cutting tariffs on Beijing to relieve inflation in the US, but has alternatively thought about additional penalties as China carries out military drills in the waters surrounding Taiwan.
