Introduction In the mainstream view, al-Qaeda did not play a role in the Syria conflict until Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi dispatched his deputy, Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, to Syria in August 2011 to establish a wing of the group there, called Jabhat al-Nusra, or the Nusra Front. Additionally, al-Qaeda allegedly did not carry out any military operations until December 2011 and did not announce its establishment until January 2012. However, there is evidence that al-Qaeda affiliated militants were involved in the Syrian conflict much earlier. Saudi intelligence...

Interview: Danny Sjursen Explains War in the Age of Biden
David Gornoski starts the show by commenting on ridiculous establishment-friendly media coverage given to the Biden inauguration. Also in the show, David brings to our attention the recent nonsensical censorship taken against him by YouTube. Plus, Ret. Major Danny Sjursen calls in to give us an overall assessment of the Biden inauguration. What should we make of the increased military presence at that event? Why is there a lack of self-awareness among voters on both sides? How should we assess Donald Trump’s foreign policy? Listen to the full episode to find out and more. Listen to Danny...
Jim Bovard in the Daily Caller: Can Ending ‘Endless Wars’ Save Trump’s Presidency?
Check it out: Four years ago, Donald Trump electrified campaign audiences by denouncing “Trigger Happy Hillary” Clinton. Trump bragged in 2016 that his advisers knew “how to avoid the endless wars we are caught in now” but he has yet to deliver on what many voters believed was his most important campaign promise. Can he revive his faltering reelection bid by boldly withdrawing American troops from much of the world? Read the rest...
Keith Preston on: American Secession The Looming Threat Of National Breakup
From Keith Preston at Attack The System: A review of F.H Buckley's book American Secession (available on Amazon) Americans have never been more divided, and we’re ripe for a breakup. The bitter partisan animosities, the legislative gridlock, the growing acceptance of violence in the name of political virtue—it all invites us to think that we’d be happier were we two different countries. In all the ways that matter, save for the naked force of law, we are already two nations. There’s another reason why secession beckons, says F.H. Buckley: we’re too big. In population and area, the United...
Axios: Republican Operatives Launch Pro-Biden Super PAC
A group of prominent Republican operatives that includes former officials from the Trump and George W. Bush administrations are launching a super PAC to turn out GOP voters for Joe Biden in November, organizers tell Axios. Details: The "Right Side PAC" aims to identify former Trump supporters across the country who have cooled to the president's approach in office and convince them to vote for Biden, says founder Matt Borges, a former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party. ‘Our Focusgroup Has Determined ‘Truth’ is a Great Gimmick This Year’
Not actual truth. Just the word, "truth." And then, oh, it turns out, not so much. From the NYT pre-mortem on Kamala "is a cop" Harris's failed campaign for president: "Then there was Ms. Harris’s campaign message. Extensive polling led her to believe that there was great value in the word 'truth,' so she titled her 2019 memoir 'The Truths We Hold' and made a similar phrase the centerpiece of her early stump speech: 'Let’s speak truth.' But she dropped the saying out of a belief that voters wanted something less gauzy. ... "For a time, she sought to highlight a pragmatic agenda, about...
Misinformed Voters
This will probably come as no surprise to regular readers of LI, but a 2018 survey on basic political knowledge revealed that the average American voter is not simply uninformed, but is systematically misinformed. The survey asked 24 questions to a sample of 1,000 American voters, 18 of which had dichotomous responses (e.g. True/False). If you were to blindfold a respondent, give them two buttons to signify their responses, and never ask them the questions, they would still be right, on average, about 50% of the time. Compare that to the American voter, who correctly answered only 42.9%...
No, She’s Not Complaining About Having an Election ‘Stolen’ from Her
This is where people need to stop paying attention to the messenger and listen to the message. This is all a set up for future elections. Voter Suppression Worse Now Than in the 1960s, Stacey Abrams Says
Dan McAdams on the Media’s Hilarious Gabbard Narrative
These idiots. The best they can do is claim that Tulsi Gabbard is some kind of "Russian agent!" and that oh, no, "some rightwingers like her." But what do these rightwingers or libertarians like about her? That she's (relatively) antiwar! That is supposed to be self-evidently horrible? But who's buying that? The more obvious frame would be, "Wow, look how much more horrible liberals are on war now when you even have all these libertarians and conservatives who want to call it off." I think the Democratic Party voters of America do not agree and do not want to be worse than any...
Philip Weiss: It’s About The Benjamins
Philip Weiss at Mondoweiss is correct in pointing out that the strategy of Trump and the Republicans is to exploit the division in the Democratic party around support for Israel. The main target is large democratic donors. While Trump and the Republicans have been critical of the four Justice Democrat members of congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Presely, Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar, it is Omar and Talib that are on the receiving end of the most vitriolic attacks. Isn’t Donald Trump’s tactical aim an exodus of Jewish donors and voters from the Democratic Party over the party’s...
